Initially i started this blog as a photoblog depicting pictures from all my travels. But lately i've realized that i need to share some of my travel experiences too. So here it goes.. celebrating Life and its wonderful experiences.

people @ Pushkar Fair

17th Dec 2013, New Delhi

Its been more than a month that i had been to Pushkar Fair and, its been a hectic month for me, not at work but at personal front... Now that its been over and, i'm gearing up for another vacation, i thought of putting something which talks more about the awesome Pushkar Fair...

when its come to Pushkar Fair we mostly talk about Camels, Dessert and what not, but i feel its the people who should be an integral part of fair. Lot of people would say they are, but i could hardly see images of them around...

This click is my effort to capture their importance for the fair. I cropped it a bit and made its height narrower so as to capture the person against the Pushkar Fair background.

livelier Pushkar Fair @ Night

19th Nov 2013, New Delhi

Unlike any other day of the years the days during the Pushkar Fair has so much to offer regardless of the time.. I reached quite late in the afternoon and by the time i finished roaming around the area it was already getting dark.

I waited, and as night falls on the earth it appeared as if the fun filled Pushkar Fair will fall apart... but to my astonishment it became livelier with night shift camps, fire places and of course the crowd. Here is one of the several clicks i took during that time.

PRAYERS

7th Nov 2013, New Delhi

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that i had absolutely no other place to go.
~ Abraham Lincoln

Truly lots of people opt for it at distress but what about happy times?
It all depends on the individual and i leave it to them to ponder...

I saw this couple (i assume they are couple) at the Mosque at Taj Complex praying for quite a long time without being perturbed by any external disturbances... With appropriate lights and a number of people moving in and out of the Mosque, gave me enough opportunity to grab some good frames...

Sharing one of them. :-)

ETERNAL BEAUTY

1st Nov 2013, New Delhi

I existed from all eternity and, behold, I am here; and i shall exist till the end of time, for my being has no end.
- by Khalil Gibran

The lines holds true for the Taj Mahal. I've been to Taj earlier too and every time I tried capturing its beauty in different way...but, for me, this picture (taken during my last trip to Taj in Oct'13) captures its true eternal beauty - With time, people will come and go, and it will still hold its true essence.

ENGROSSED

31st Oct, 2013

I noticed this gentleman while attending the aarti at Haridwar. There was something in his eyes, expressions and also may be his face itself. He was sitting behind me at a distance and everytime i looked back i can see him engrossed in some thought...
I tried a lot to click his picture and due to distance and lack of light (late evening time) it was becoming tough for me... but somehow i manage to get couple of good shots...and here it is one of them.

STAND OUT

29th Oct 2013, New Delhi

This may be a typical mundane shot, but i like this kind of photography - wherein the subject stands out against a single background....

I was clicking some bees in bushes in Haridwar when i noticed this chameleon sitting still on one of the branches...i waited long so that it comes against the white wall of the nearby houses... and my wait was duly rewarded.

DESTINATION !

28th August, 2013

"One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things..."

While clicking i wished someone to be on the boat..but my timing was wrong.. Anyway the picture was taken in Assam near a roadside restaurant on highway.... Its a pond from where the restaurant serves fresh fish... :-)

a transient drop !

15th August 2013, New Delhi

With rain all around the clock on a long weekend can end up mostly lying idle on bed. I had the same intention but with the umbrella and my kit up I took up the task to click some of my garden’s newest members…. And here are we with a shot which says a lot.

A transient drop living up to the moment !

PAINTED STORK

21st July 2013

I've been watching birds for quite a while and have always been looking at ways to click them. But lately seeing images of birds from my friends has further inspired me to click more and more...

To be frank i still lack a good lens for bird photography but still a click a loads of them specially in the early morning... But hardly share them as they either not share enough or i don't know their names... still loads to learn about these creatures ...

This picture is of a young painted stork at Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

My mom’s passion for clicking is unparalleled….most of the time, even I cannot compete with her.

In this picture she is at what she does the best - framing.

KINGDOM OF DREAMS, GURGOAN | JUNE 2013

KOS MINAR

16th June, 2013

How highways were built (when there was hardly any advanced navigation technique)?

This question has always popped up when I travel through the highways.

NH1 is one such highway which has been part of my numerous travels. In one of my recent trip my driver told me about Kos Minar. These are mile stones which were built by Sher Shah Suri during his rule (That’s what my driver told me and later I searched it also) along the old highways.

While travelling through the highway, say towards Agra (read from Delhi) one can see a number of those pillars along the way. I had travelled so much on this road but hardly ever realized the importance of these milestones. I was really surprised to know about them and that too from a driver.

And now watching them, my initial thought and curiosity (question) intensified further.

Wetlands of Bharatpur!

04th June 2013

The wetlands with green and yellow patch was perfect contrast for my capture. The old boats added to its beauty. What can you ask more?

I loved the serene beauty of this place. It looks so calm and peaceful.

Angry Bird

02nd June, 2013

I loved the looks of the bird... It seems its angry but how could it be? With summers around and a little bit of rain is always considered a respite form the rising temperature..

She was out there in the open drenched, enjoying every bit of the moment.

BEGINNING OF NEW LIFE !

21th May, 2013

Marriages are perfect place to get great worth remembering shots – from the extravagant settings to people’s expressions, emotions. Now after attending so many marriages, I find it so exciting to roam around the venue experimenting with my camera, looking out for those impromptu moments.

This is one of those experiments this summer. The bride and groom were getting onto to the stage and with people, cameraman all around I could hardly find any space for myself. I just got my zoom lens and went up a platform almost 10-15 meters away. Out of the picture clicked I picked this one because it focuses only on the moment – ‘the groom holding hand of the bride on their way to their new life!’

SOLIDARITY

12th May, 2013

What can be a perfect example of solidarity than the Harmandir Sahib (Popularly known as the Golden temple)? Every visit seems to imbibe more of humanity, compassion.

Its so different!! And for a person like me who is weak on words it hard to describe the feelings.

PEACOCK !

15th April, 2013

Peacocks always remind me of a fantabulous weather.
This time also when I spotted this Peacock it had just rained…and the sun was going down the horizon. There was a cool breeze and we were totally drenched. With hardly any noise around the whole moment was so serene.

This picture was clicked with over exposure against white cloud. I just played around a bit with saturation to get the effect.

GUIDE

06th April, 2013

These rickshaw pullers are suppose to take tourist around the Keoladeo National Park and are paid Rs 70 on hourly basis as per government fixed rate. They just do the manual hardship.

But wait!!

To my utter surprise they are great guide also to take you around the sanctuary. They know the name of each bird. Not only that they even know the scientific name too.. . They can recognize their color, sound and also know where exactly you can find them in the sanctuary - too much for a rickshaw puller, right?

U T O P I A

04th April, 2013

All tourist destinations in India are totally crowded. There are hardly any place wherein we can’t see crowd. My recent visit to Keoladeo National Park (Popularly known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary) was a blessing in that sense.

The trip was planned at the last moment. In the beginning I was not sure if I would really like to be there. But my recent inclination to click birds was enticing me a lot.

On reaching there I was totally thrilled to see the place. It was so serene. I spent almost the whole day clicking around the sanctuary.

This click is result of the day’s effort. It had just started raining I could not resist the beauty in front of me.

gesture

24th March, 2013

What makes you smile – a genuine smile? There can be hundreds of reasons but none so mundane as for people living a minimalistic lifestyle.

I clicked this picture in a tea garden in Assam. These females were heading towards a nearby garden for plucking tea leaves …They were not at all surprised to see me clicking them. In-fact they were so happy for being clicked. J

And now continuing my yesterday’s post (Journey), I can visualize my state of mind just like this picture – numerous thought running in different direction.

But all of them within the frame, very much in control…!

Journey

The journey seems to never end…with every step one realizes that there are so many things left to do, so much to learn…and what not!!

Hmm… and for me also it holds true…a day seems shorter now.

Get Inspired!!

03rd March, 2013

Life is such that one just needs a slightest of hint to get inspired. The inspiration can be anything… a small object, a beautiful painting or even a person. It’s really strange the way it turns up.

That’s what I experienced !

P E A C E

27th Jan, 2013, New Delhi

Still young and lots more to come in life…..and we are already worried how the future will look like? The rat race is on …

But being at a relatively smaller town and looking at people who are content with what they have, has always helped me to be at peace with myself.

Someone has rightly sent me a message few days back  "If life is coffee, then jobs, money and status in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life. Don't let the cups drive you. Enjoy the coffee."
